WOODYWOODY Band image film The music of the WoodyWoody Band is presented by the pairing of two guitars. Their fingering styles are a way for them to interpret their musical creations. They make music through “jamming on the guitar.”They love the sound of unplugged guitars, so their music is full of woody sounds. This film explores the inner thoughts of the members, how they feel about each other, and the reason they formed this band, allowing the public to have a better understanding of these two sensitive boys. Idea WoodyWoody is composed of two big boys who love the guitar. They are friendly and humorous to the people around them. People are attracted to their adorable personalities, so they have many loyal fans. But they are also good at self-reflection, and know that being alone is just as important as their time together. The director who learned about their habits, designed the film structure and script narration, so that the two people in different spaces analyze themselves, and gradually integrate their ideas to become one. The idea the director wanted to express: maybe they are not talking about guitars in the film, but their attitudes toward life. This type of thinking has made them more powerful when facing the world and more confident about the path they have chosen! They have also proved their talent the past few years. Process Rather than being alone, you have more power after cooperation, and this is the principle behind WoodyWoody, that one plus one is more than two. Before designing the script, the director talked to the two, and they shared about their individual musical paths and the changes made after meeting each other. We saw Xie Wei’s passion for guitar flashing in his eyes and how it prompted him to give up his life as an architect. Although, he felt confused, he continued on, and eventually found his own value. Thus, in the beginning, we showed him submerged in his own world, and only by encouraging himself was he able to enter into unknown waters. Zhong Lin had always known what he wanted. He observed the world around him before reaching his goal, and progressed with a steady pace. He was able to see more scenery on the way and meet more people. Just like the way he makes coffee, he starts by grinding his own beans. You reap what you sow. The director connected their lives and preferences, not only dissecting the two people individually, he also allowed them to see their lives from the perspectives of others. These two people have totally different personalities, but they were joined together by their love for the guitar. They now have a growing understanding for each other due to their intimate contact. They have never lived their lives for the applause; they just want to spread the healing powers of music to people’s hearts. Result Images are fictional vocabulary where seemingly non-existent forms are created in people’s minds. When you try to express “reality” that is resonating in the air, it is presenting something that is not fictitious. It is presenting something formed in people’s minds.
