InFocus Children’s Smart Watch – Behind the Scenes

We only had 10 working days for discussion, so good communication was the most important element for completing the script, find shooting spots and actors, post-planning, and most importantly determining the main direction of the film in the shortest time.

A description film that took a one-day itinerary to explain the product characteristics

This time, DC decided to use illustrative shooting methods because the client would use the film for a product launch. The film would also be put on their official website and Internet platform. According to the client, their former Internet film did not get enough exposure. They hoped our film could use a descriptive method to display the product, so reporters would be able to easily understand the product functions at the press conference for reporting. This would maximize the effects of the film, and as we mention before, it is important for commercials to be understood and draw interest.

The challenges while filming

When shooting, you need to instruct children by acting like their friends, because if you are too strict, the children will be afraid. However, if you are too easy going, the children might forget they are working and the filming time might take too long. So finding balance when guiding the children while filming was essential.

The client wanted to use a casual way to show its product’s characteristics. Because the product’s characteristics and functions really stand out, so we chose to have no dialogue. Instead, we used normal interaction between parents and their children to show how the smart watch can benefit their lives in numerous ways. At the same time, during the introduction, we also added simple 2D animation to highlight the functions of the watch.

“The most difficult shot to get” and the “most memorable shot” was the same, the image of the child touching a dog. The three elements hardest to control while shooting are nature, children, and animals, and this shot included it all. On one hand we had to take advantage of the daylight and let the child and animal perform all the actions. This was very difficult, so this shot took us a little more time to shoot.

The importance of communication

We only had 10 working days for discussion, so good communication was the most important element for completing the script, find shooting spots, actors, post-planning, and most importantly determining the main direction of the film in the shortest time. Our experienced team carefully found the right balance of budget and film quality. These characteristics are what helped us complete the film in time for the press conference. This is what the DC team hopes to see, good quality films that serve their purpose.
