Urban Trance 形象影片 Urban Trance refers to how people living in the city live in a trance like state. Through images, DC narrates the beauty and stress, convenience and alienation, construction and deconstruction in urban life. It hopes to drive people to think about philosophical issues such as their place in the environment and “where am I going?” Client: DC Films Website: dcfilms.tv Services: 視覺風格統籌,製片,攝影,腳本設計 Idea In fact, the photographer has always been trying to shoot the city he grew up in, and he finally was able to convey his love for the city through this short film. Process The pre-production of Urban Trance began during Chinese New Year 2014. We spent 3 days and 3 nights exploring the location. In general, the film production process usually starts with the script before deciding shots, and searching for locations. However, for this creative film, I wanted to start with careful observation of the subject I was about to film before deciding the topic and means of expression. Process For the photography, we originally planned to film with the Red One movie camera, but after considering that the shooting would require a high degree of maneuverability, we decided to use the 5D MKII instead. So we had to first decide the tone contrast, unlike the Red One which has great room for post-production on the RAW files. For the music selection, the “post-modern rock genre” was selected to add warmth to the cold images. Result For the shooting, the photographers used a lot of graphic images and editing methods for production. This is because for some images, the graphic images sever the ties with time and space and allow viewers more room for imagination. In history, people often use the phrase “mother earth“ as a name to represent the land. But in fact the land is also like a child, and we will bear the fruit of whatever we sow.
