Goodbye Is Promotional Film 公益短片 “Goodbye is” is the first project by ENPOSSIBLE, an organization comprised of DC and other companies in various fields. It is a platform for people to talk about “saying goodbye” where people can use their voice and words to record ideas and choices regarding “saying goodbye” to be communicated to loved ones. Through this event, besides using text to convey our ideas, the images lead people to think about the meaning of goodbye through simple and positive stories. This allows us to face death with a positive attitude and start discussions with others. This video was eventually viewed by over 100 thousand viewers, was shared more than 300 times, and was also reported by media and news centers. We always remember saying goodbye to lovers, good friends, or special places. Although, we are sad to move on, we know we have to do certain things. Maybe we write a letter, or give our most precious toy to that special someone. If we prepare for goodbyes, we will have less regrets after leaving. Death, is saying goodbye to the world, but we often do not have the courage to say the final goodbye. “Facing death bravely and saying goodbye before leaving” is the main concept this film wants to communicate. Through the little girl in the film naively and bravely saying goodbye, viewers understand that even when they are saying goodbye to the world, they should do it properly, like the little girl. Process As the film is a project under the structure of the ENPOSSIBLE nonprofit organization, there was only the general direction and no customer ideas, no budget, no location restrictions, and all was based on the film production team’s consideration of the project’s purpose and marketing. Thus, the director, producer, and screenwriter proposed 10 script versions. After a few weeks of meetings, a consensus was made after considering the budget, social perspectives, and project goals. It did not talk about death directly or show funeral images. No dark color tones were used, and the purpose was to encourage the public to face the inevitable moment with a positive attitude. All the members of DC participated in this project, and had to face the cold winds and low mountain temperatures. We filmed the hardest subjects to film; elderly, children, weather, and animals. The elderly actors needed special attention outdoors, because we were worried about them catching cold or suffering from aches and pains. The child actors started acting hyper a few hours into filming due to the sweets given as incentives, and filming was slow. Because of the time of season, the sun could be seen on and off, but the sun was a crucial factor to the success or failure of the film! The dog actors lost stability because their excitement when seeing people, so we spent a lot of time waiting for them to calm down. All of these factors tested the patience of the team and its time management skills! The harsh winter temperatures also tested everyone physically and mentally. Without any “normal” actors, we were unable to follow the rundown, and adjusting the shooting style on site was absolutely necessary! The director, photographer, and producer had to observe all the people and adjust the pace of filming. Result In the DC team, our division of labor is not very clear cut. Although, everyone has their own expertise, but in the filming process, we help each other out, and if problems occur, we try to communicate with each other. We believe this is the best type of team atmosphere and cooperation. This is why when doing films, everyone in the DC family needs to help out: because when the time is right, everyone has an important function in the team. Ellie Liu Screenwriter/ Project Manager
